Thermogenesis

To get the body to use fat cells for energy, you must start increasing your metabolism. The process Thermogenesis raises the body temperature and expends more energy, which uses the stored fat for energy to support the metabolism heating up.
Thermogenesis within the body can be triggered by the food you eat, exercise and supplements.
Any process that triggers Thermogenesis will ultimately assist you to burn more body fat as fuel.

How Does Thermogenesis Work?

Stemming from the Greeks, Thermogenesis is the word meaning heat generating (Thermē = Heat, Genesis + Creation)
• Food that you eat will be metabolized through the body, which will produce electrons.
• I the mitochondria these electrons are coupled to form ATP (adenosine tri phosphate), or cellular energy which powers the body.
• When energy is expended energy is released causing electrons to uncouple which heats the body. Heat burns the calories and this is how weight loss can occur.
• Free fatty acids from fat cells trigger the uncoupling of electrons
• Lipolysis (breakdown of fat) creates free fatty acids

How to effectively increase your fat burning efforts?

Following a strict thermogenic diet will see some restriction of carbohydrates that include high glycemic foods (refined carbohydrates and sugars) while focusing on low glycemic index foods (quality seafood/meats, whole grains, nuts/seeds, most vegetables and some fruits.
Protein plays a major role in thermogenesis, as it’s the macronutrient that will generate the most heat in the body and controlling body weight through satiety.

What are the Thermogenic Foods?

Some foods will charge up your metabolism more than others,
These include many quality proteins, sweet potato, green tea, broccoli, cabbage, mixed berries and grapefruit. Spicy foods such as cayenne peppers, chilies, hot peppers have shown to increase the body’s metabolic rate. Studies on green tea have been shown to reduce absorption of sugar into the blood, and decrease the craving for sweets.
Other studies on these types of food above have been done showing that they may increase the effect of Thermogenesis in the body and assist in weight loss.

Using certain supplements such as caffeine, green tea, cinnamon and vinegar to increase Thermogenesis are meant to assist with your efforts in exercise, and are not magic weight loss supplements. Some people increase the dosage to try to get better results, which can cause more severe side effects and possible dependency on the product. Proper hydration is necessary when taking thermogenic substances because an elevated body temperature can lead to dehydration.
